EBRD cuts Estonia's economic growth forecast for 2015

BC, Tallinn, 19.01.2015.Print version
In its fresh economic report made public on Monday, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) reduced Estonia's economic growth forecast by 0.3 percentage points compared to the autumn forecast, to 2.2% for the year 2015, reports LETA.

In September, EBRD forecast Estonia economic growth of 2.5% in 2015.

The Central European and Baltic region (CEB) average economic growth for this year was forecast at 2.2%, which by 0.4% lower than the 2.6% forecast in autumn.

A sharp fall in the price of oil has piled pressure on an already fragile Russia, and is hitting growth in energy exporters and other emerging nations with close links to Eastern Europe’s largest economy, according to the EBRD’s latest economic outlook, published today.

On average, countries across the EBRD regions are now expected to see a contraction of 0.3% in 2015, after a forecast of 1.7% growth in September.
