The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 0.3 bln in November
Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.2 billion (LTL 4.3 billion). The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 0.3 billion (LTL 1.2 billion).
Over the month (November 2014, against October), exports decreased by 8.9%, while imports increased by 0.5%. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of mineral products (13.1%), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (24.2%), and cereals (25.1%). The increase in imports was influenced by an increase in imports of ships, boats and floating structures. Mineral products excluded, exports decreased by 7.9%, while imports increased by 6.1%. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 9.3%, mineral products excluded – by 8.4%. Exports to Russia decreased by 9.6%, of goods of Lithuanian origin – by 22.5%, which was conditioned by a decrease in exports of plastics and articles thereof (35.6%) and ground vehicles (26%).

Over the year (November 2014, against November 2013), exports increased by 2.8%, imports – by 10.5%. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (39.6%) and tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (75.9%). The increase in imports was influenced by an increase in imports of ships, boats and floating structures and boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof. Mineral products excluded, exports and imports increased by 3.5 and 17.7% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 2.4, mineral products excluded – by 5.8%.
In January–November 2014, against January–November 2013, exports decreased by 0.5%, while imports increased by 1.2%. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (24.8%) and ground vehicles (20.6%). The increase in imports was influenced by an increase in imports of electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (37.7%) and boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (18.9%). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports increased by 7 and 10% respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 7%, mineral products excluded – grew by 4.4%. Exports to Russia increased by 6.5%, while exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 15%, which was conditioned by a decrease in exports of milk and dairy products (35.3%), meat and edible offal (39.3%), and ground vehicles (30%). Exports of food and agricultural products (CN sections I–IV) to Russia decreased by 17.8%, of food and agricultural products of Lithuanian origin – by 26.3% (in January–November 2013, exports of such products amounted to EUR 295.3 million, while in the same period of 2014 – EUR 217.6 million).
In January–November 2014, the most important Lithuania's partners in exports were Russia (21.1%), Latvia (9.2%), Poland (8.3%), and Germany (7.3%), in imports – Russia (21.7%), Germany (11%), Poland (9.5%), and Latvia (6.9%). Most of the goods of Lithuanian origin were exported to Germany (10.4%), Latvia (8.2%), the Netherlands (7.3%), and Poland (7.2%).
In January–November 2014, the largest share in Lithuania's exports and imports fell within mineral products (17.7 and 25.4% respectively), machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment (15.4 and 16.8%), and products of the chemical or allied industries (9 and 10.4%). As for the goods of Lithuanian origin, the largest share in exports fell within mineral products (25.9%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (10%), prepared foodstuffs (7.8%), and live animals and animal products (7.8%).
