BC, Tallinn, 10.12.2014.Print version
A group called D5 that joins some of the most digitally advanced governments in the world was formed on Tuesday in London, Estonia being one of the five founding members, LETA/Delfi reports.

The founding members were United Kingdom, South Korea, Estonia, Israel and New Zealand.

The aim of the group is to exchange experiences in information society and e-state.

Estonian Economy and Infrastructure Minister Urve Palo, who signed the charter of launching the group as Estonia's representative, stressed the importance of Estonia belonging to D5. "This is a club that joins five states with the most advanced in the world e-governance. This club membership is a matter of pride for Estonia. We are rightly proud of our advanced information society. We must use the opportunity to learn from others and at the same time, we have an obligation to share our experiences with others," said Palo.

"I am pleased that my proposal to organise the next D5 conference in the autumn of 2015 in Estonia, was well received. Certainly one of the key topics for discussion then should be cyber security, and associated topics, "said Palo.

At the founding conference that takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday, and in the following year, D5 focuses on three main themes: the best practices of IT procurement, programming studies for children and connectivity (Internet accessibility and quality).
