Under the leadership of Foreign Trade and Enterprise Minister Anne Sulling, the Estonian delegation launched the first round of negotiations for Estonia’s accession to the European Space Agency, writes LETA/Äripäev.ee.

Sulling said that the move will open opportunities for Estonian enterprises to carry out high-tech development works via ESA procurements, the results of which can later be used in other industrial sectors.

“Experiences gained by other countries have demonstrated that developing space applications has considerable impact on the so-called on-the-ground economy,” she said, adding that there are already some good examples in Estonia, where Tartu-based company Skeleton Technologies took part in an ESA project, and its innovative energy recording devices are successfully usable in the automobile industry.
