Number of electronic signature users grows in Lithuania

BC, Vilnius, 31.03.2014.Print version
The number of electronic signature users has been progressively growing in Lithuania. Nonetheless, the statistics of electronic signature users show that this identification form is spreading faster among companies than residents, informs LETA/ELTA.

According to the data of the State Tax Inspectorate (VMI), the amount of declarations signed by electronic signature has grown consistently. 11,600 declarations submitted in 2013 were signed this way, by 1.7 times more than in 2012. 9,551 such declarations were submitted by companies and the rest 17% by residents.

Statistics of Danske Bank have revealed that the number of people using electronic signature has doubled in 2013 but only a few financial operations are confirmed this way.

"Companies have acknowledged advantages of electronic signatures long ago. Meanwhile, residents logging in the declaration system still opt for other forms of identity identification, most often online banking," notes Stase Aliukonyte-Sniriene, Director of VMI Taxpayer Service Department.

Danske Bank specialists have noted a trend that the number of electronic signature users grows by 25% every three months.
