At the end of July 2012, the Public Prosecutor’s Office closed the criminal case that attempted to identify persons who had organised cyber attacks against Estonian companies after the removal of the so-called bronze soldier monument, writes LETA/National Broadcasting, citing the weekly newspaper Eesti Ekspress.

The attacks that occurred in spring of 2007 were directed against SEB, Eesti Krediidipank (Estonian Credit Bank), Baltic Disc, insurance company If Eesti Kindlustus and against Energiakeskus (Energy Centre).

In the decree on terminating the criminal case, leading public prosecutor Heili Sepp notes that in the course of the pre-trial investigation, a number of IP addresses that had taken part in the attacks were determined, but the computers linked to these addresses are located outside Estonia.

Legal aid requests sent to Russia and to Lithuania did not yield any results and hence the persons who had committed the attacks were not identified.
