"We proposed some interesting places in Vilnius, including a route that includes some of the city's most beautiful places and objects. The Google cars will register the neighbourhoods of the Old Town, Zverynas, as well as the Uzupis neighbourhood and the new town on the right side of the Neris River. We have also agreed to photograph the historic Rasu cemetery. Items like these are rarely covered in the Street View project," said the mayor, reports LETA/ELTA.
The municipality of Vilnius also discussed the possibility of Google coming to Vilnius in the future with a special equipment for photographing certain environments – the Google Trike tricycle. It can photograph places that are not accessible by car.
Google Maps Street View is a project that has been in progress since 2007 and currently includes more than 40 countries and regions. In May, Latvia and Estonia were added to the project.
