Computer sales in Baltic States fell by 46% in 2009

Print versionAccording to a recent market survey by IDC, the computers market in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania fell by 46% in 2009 in the year-on-year comparison, writes LETA/Postimees Online.

The fourth quarter of last year as the peak season in computer purchases also demonstrated a decline of 37.4% in the region – only 95,000 computers were sold during the three last months of the year 2009.
According to IDC, a total of 25,000 computers were sold in Estonia in the fourth quarter – by nearly 40% less than during the same period of time in 2008. 26,000 computers were sold during the same period in Latvia (year-on-year decline reaching 47%) and 44,000 in Lithuania (falling by 28.2% in comparison to 2008).
The best-selling brand in the Baltic States is HP. IDC predicted that in 2010, the sales will improve slightly and prices will not probably grow in the region.
