This was the result of nearly two years of work, says Viesturs Sosars, chairman of the board of developers Real Sound Lab (RSL). The agreement foresees the incorporation of RSL's sound technology into all Panasonic televisions sold in Europe, informs LETA.
The company director is also hopeful that other cooperation agreements could be signed this year.
The product which has made RSL a world player is a unique sound processing technology which allows the assessment and correction of sound quality outside of laboratory conditions. Until now, no electronics producer has been able to achieve this.
Panasonic is the third cooperation partner in the field of consumer electronics – previously, agreements have been signed with Hitachi (U.S. and Japan) and also Kenwood.
Sosars points out that Panasonic will also use the Latvian developers' knowhow in the new generation of 3D televisions which will appear on the market in March.
According to Sosars, negotiations are also taking place with several other potential partners, and the next agreement is expected to be concluded in April. RSL hopes to gradually begin operations in the Korean and Taiwanese markets in the middle of this year – not through opening its own representation, as in the U.S., but by making agreements with local companies.
