Creation of the website marks the start of the LIVE RĪGA winter season and is the first step in creating the LIVE RĪGA portal, which is planned to become the central website for finding out about tourism, recreation and investment opportunities in Riga, Lasmane told
Latvian airline airBaltic President and CEO Bertolt Flick informed that the portal, after it is completed, will contain a calendar of events for Riga and a listing of the Latvian capital's tourism products. The portal will be developed as an interactive e-environment, where both tourists and Rigans can find out about what the city has to offer.
The section "Look Riga" will contain information about Riga's tourism offer: city guides, information about the transport system and means of payment. "Feel Riga" section will provide information on culture, arts, entertainment and sports events in the Latvian capital. "Stay Riga" section will provide details on hotels and accommodation in Riga, as well as useful information for Rigans and guests staying in the city for a longer period of time. "Work Riga" section will inform on conference, congress and corporate travel opportunities in Riga, as well as will list information for foreign investors and entrepreneurs that wish to start their business in Riga.
The bulk of funding for the LIVE RĪGA winter season publicity campaign came from airBaltic; Riga City Council covered additional costs.
The portal LIVE RĪGA will initially be targeted at Latvia's seven target markets: Estonia, Russia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, Germany and Sweden, as Lasmane informed.
