BC, Riga, 05.10.2017.Print version
When it comes to cybersecurity, well-educated technology users make the first defense line, Defense Minister Raimonds Bergmanis (Greens/Farmers) said in his opening address at the international cybersecurity conference Cyberchess 2017 today., informs LETA.

With the everyday use of various kinds of technology increasing, cybersecurity becomes more important as well, which is why the European Union and Latvia have set high cybersecurity standards as a priority in many sectors, the Latvian defense minister said.

Although the past year has been marked by numerous global cyberattacks and the digital environment as a whole has become more dangerous, Latvia has been coping with the situation fairly well, Bergmanis said.

As far as cybersecurity is concerned, well-educated digital technology users will always be on the first defense line, using their skills to reduce the potential risks, Bergmanis said.

The international IT security conference Cyberchess 2017, which is taking place in Riga today, has been organized by the Latvian Information Technology Security Incident Response Institution Cert.lv and the Latvian chapter of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) in collaboration with Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) mobile operator, Squalio Cloud Consulting and Accenture Latvia.
