Samsung and Apple most frequently used mobile devices for web browsing in Latvia

Samsung and Apple mobile devices were most frequently used for web browsing in Latvia in September, according to gemiusRanking, a survey by Internet research and consulting company Gemius, writes LETA.

The survey showed that 44.8% of mobile devices used for web-browsing in Latvia in September were Samsung products, and 30.3% were Apple products.


Further down the list are Nokia with 6.%, LG with 5.8%, Sony with 4.6%, Huawei with 4.4%, HTC with 2.1%, Lenovo with 0.6%, Asus with 0.4%, Prestigio with 0.2%, and Meizu and BlackBerry with 0.1% each.


In September last year, Samsung mobile devices accounted for 42.2% of mobile devices used for web browsing in Latvia and Apple products made up 28.6%.


Samsung mobile devices became the most popular in Latvia in early 2013, ousting Apple, which had moved into the No. 1 position in December 2011 after Nokia started losing its popularity.


For the purposes of gemiusRanking, a mobile device is a portable electronic device which allows to process, receive and send data without the need to maintain a wired connection with the internet. The ranking does not include portable PCs.


The ranking comprises mobile devices as used by persons connecting from Latvia with Latvian web sites. The ranking is based on the number of page views concerning sites included in the gemiusTraffic study. A page view is an event consisting in displaying of a web page embedded with a correctly executed gemiusTraffic study script.
