BC, Tallinn, 03.09.2015.Print version
At its Thursday session, the Estonian government gave approval to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to sell the shares of the state-owned company AS Andmevara, which manages the Estonian population registry now, LETA/Äripäev.ee reports.

Also, the government decided that from the new year, instead Andmevara, the Estonian population registry authorized processor will be the Interior Ministry IT and Development Centre (SMIT).

"So far, there have been two separate IT institutions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs administrative sphere that sometimes duplicate each other's activities," said Interior Minister Hanno Pevkur, adding that open market-oriented services, such as IT hosting, software development and digitization form already more than a half of Andmevara's turnover.

All state-owned 31,956 shares of AS Andmevara will be sold at a written auction. The company's sales volume has increased in recent years, in 2012 to 2014 the average sales revenue growth rate was nearly 16% per year.
