Print versionThe Secretariat for the Special Assignments Minister for Electronic Government Affairs has to be retained because still a lot has to be accomplished in this matter, PM Ivars Godmanis (Latvia's First Party/Latvia's Way) believes.
Godmanis emphasized today that the person, who will take up the office of minister for electronic government affairs, has to have the trust of the Green/Farmers Union, as well as experience working with the information technologies.
Godmanis predicted that the decision on the candidate for minister will not be made today.
Godmanis also denied the opinion of some political observers that, following Ina Gudele, also other members of the government should resign, for example, Transport Minister Ainars Slesers (Latvia's First Party/Latvia's Way). As Godmanis underlines, these matters are not related.
As reported, Gudele decided to resign after it became known that money from the state budget was spent for her birthday party.
