Geographically, Latvia is a bridge between the East and the West, while in the European Union's context, Latvia is a remote place with an insignificant population, the minister said. The development of a digital single market is opportunity for Latvian businessmen to access a market with half-a-billion customers, the politician explained.

If Europe made full use of the digital market, it would benefit both businessmen and consumers who would be able to economize, according to the European Parliament's report. Furthermore, equal rules would ensure that 57% of businessmen be prepared to operate online in other countries as well. It means major economic potential, the minister said.

She noted that the digital single market is not fully operational at the moment, as there are various obstacles impeding Latvian businessmen's operations in other countries, for instance, protectionism.

The minister also emphasized that it is easier for companies to attract funding in the United States, which is one of the reasons why the developer of "AirDog" drones has moved to the United States.
