Latvian Transport Minister Uldis Augulis (Greens/Farmers) and Ning Jizhe, Vice-Chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, have approved a draft memorandum on comprehensive Latvian-Chinese cooperation in transport and logistics that is to be signed during the 16+1 summit of the heads of government of China and 16 Central and Eastern European countries in Riga in November this year, according the Latvian Transport Ministry information writes LETA.

This week’s visit of China’s holding China Merchants Group (CMG) to the Riga port gives hope that CMG is seriously considering a possibility of transportation of cargos from its Great Stone logistics center in Belarus via Riga port, said the Riga Freeport deputy administrator Edgars Suna, informs LETA.

Joint-stock railroad company Latvijas Dzelzcels President Edvins Berzins and China Railway Corporation General Manager Sheng Guangzu have signed a protocol of intent on cooperation in the development of China Railway Express from China to Europe, LETA learned from the Transport Ministry.
