Lithuanian retailers lose EUR 142 mln due to e-trade with third countries

Lithuania's retail sector lost 142 million euros in revenue, or around 1 percent of the total retail turnover, due to residents' trade with third countries, mainly China, a survey by public policy analysis and consultation company ESTEP has revealed, cites LETA/BNS.

If the external borders of the European Union (EU) were opened in the near future, persons entering from Russia, the United States, South America, as well as other regions would definitely have to go into self-quarantine for 14 days, Uga Dumpis, the chief infectologist of the Ministry of Health, told LETA.

Traditionally summer is wedding season and increase in the marriage number may be observed already in May. Data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in May of this year 465 marriages were registered in Latvia, which is 469 marriages or two times fewer than in May of 2019. Drop in the marriage number was caused by the emergency situation announced as of 13 March to limit spread of the COVID-13 virus.
