Estonian ferry operator Tallink Grupp carried 66,932 people on the Riga-Stockholm line this past October, which is an increase of 6.1% against the same period a year ago, the company said in a statement to Nasdaq Tallinn.

While social media have at times served as a level playing field for civic discussion, they are now tilting dangerously toward illiberalism, exposing citizens to an unprecedented crackdown on their fundamental freedoms. Moreover, a startling variety of governments are deploying advanced tools to identify and monitor users on an immense scale. As a result of these trends, global internet freedom declined for the ninth consecutive year in 2019.

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia (CSB) show that, compared to September 2018, in September 2019 industrial production output1 grew by 7.3 % (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices). The growth was influenced by the rise in electricity and gas supply – of 27.8 % (increase in production of electricity in hydro power and combined heat and power plants, as well as distribution of gas), and manufacturing – of 3.1%. Industrial production output in mining and quarrying, in turn, fell by 15.5%.

Construction of Rail Baltica station at Riga Airport to cost EUR 250-280 mln

Construction of the Rail Baltic station at Riga International Airport is expected to cost between EUR 250 mln and EUR 280 mln, but the cost estimate will be specified when stage 2 of the project is announced, Kaspars Vingris, CEO of Eiropas Dzelzcela Linijas (EDzL), the company in charge of the Rail Baltica project in Latvia, told LETA journalists Tuesday.
