According to the banking statistics published today, the demand for loans was broadly in line with the average in June. There has been an increase in corporate car leases, though, as the value of car leases taken over the last year is up by 16%.

Data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to May, in June 2019 the level of producer prices in Latvian industry rose by 0.4 %. Prices of products sold on the domestic market grew by 1.5 %, but prices of exported products reduced by 0.7%. Prices of products exported to euro area countries decreased by 0.6% and of products exported to non-euro area countries – by 0.8%.

The European Commission has announced emergency measures to save the ailing eastern Baltic cod stock from impending collapse, as part of which commercial fishing for cod in most of the Baltic Sea is banned until Dec. 31, 2019, reported LETA/BNS.

Baltic startups to receive 700,000 euros from X5 Retail Group

X5 Retail Group, leading Russian food retailer (LSE and MOEX ticker: “FIVE”), has launched the review process of technological startups from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to implement their solutions at the corporation’s own retail chains. The best companies will be given access to the infrastructure resources and expertise of the country’s largest retailer as well as an opportunity to implement a pilot project with a budget of up to 700,000 euros.
