According to Statistics Estonia’s population projection, in 2080, there will be approximately 1.2 million people in Estonia. Over the next 60 years, the population of Estonia will decrease by 11%, in the next 25 years, by 35,800 persons, and by 2080, by 145,200 persons.

In May the level of producer prices in Latvian industry decreased by 0.6%

Data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to April, in May 2019 the level of producer prices in Latvian industry fell by 0.6 %. Prices of products sold on the domestic market dropped by 0.5 % and prices of exported products by 0.6 %. Prices of products exported to euro area countries remained the same, whereas prices of products exported to non-euro area countries declined by 1.1%.

Energy consumption upturn in both production and consumption in Latvia

Data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, in 2018 gross energy consumption1 in Latvia comprised 202.3 petajoules (PJ), which is 5.9 % more than in 2017. Over the past five years (from 2014 to 2018), the gross energy consumption grew by 8.6 %, however the share of renewables in it almost did not change. Amount of electricity produced in hydro and wind power plants down by 43.6 %.
