At a meeting of Rigas Satiksme municipal transport company’ management and shareholders on Friday it was decided to allocate a EUR 130 mln subsidy to the company from the municipal budget while continuing efforts to save the financially troubled company’s costs, Riga Mayor Nils Uskakovs (Harmony) said at the meeting.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the average monthly gross wages and salaries of enterprises, institutions and organisations were 1,310 euros, having increased by 7.3% compared to 2017. The average monthly gross wages and salaries increased in all economic activities, being the highest in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

The Riga City Vidzeme District Court has awarded EUR 9,272,319 to the builders of the National Library of Latvia, the general partnership Nacionalo Buvkompaniju Apvieniba (Association of the National Construction Companies), in their legal dispute with the Culture Ministry, which also has to pay EUR 60,083 in court fees, LETA was told at the court.

Calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to January 2018, in January 2019 the total retail trade turnover rose by 1.2%. Turnover of retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) increased by 2.3%, turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel by 2.5%, while turnover of retail trade in food products reduced by 0.7%.
