At the critical time in European finances and business, the Commission has taken an initiative to discuss the working time directive among the member states’ social partners. The Commission has agreed in Brussels (16 August 2012) to extend time for social partners' negotiations on reviewing EU working time rules until the end of 2012.

Total cargo turnover of Latvia's small ports amounted to 835,700 tons in the first seven months of the year 2012, which is 9.6% less than in the same period last year when the ports handled 924,200 tons of cargo, according to the Transport Ministry's data.

Cargo turnover at Latvian ports reached 46.25 million in the first seven months of 2012, 14.8% more than in the respective period of 2011, Nozare.lv was informed by the Latvian Port, Transit and Logistics Council.
