Retail trade turnover in Latvia increased by 7.6% in May 2012
29.06.2012Data of Central Statistical Bureau show that, compared to April, total retail trade turnover in May 2012 has grown by 2.1% (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices). Retail sale of food has increased by 3.1%, whereas retail trade in non-food product has risen by 1.6%. In comparison with the month before, total retail trade turnover at current prices in May of this year has grown by 7.6% (not considering the seasonality).

In May, the production of Estonian industrial enterprises decreased by 1%
29.06.2012According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2012, the production of industrial enterprises decreased by 1% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the manufacturing the decrease was 0.4%.

Nord Stream’s second offshore pipeline complete
29.06.2012Nord Stream has successfully completed the second of the two underwater tie-ins of its second gas pipeline through the Baltic Sea on 28 June. The 1,224-kilometre offshore pipeline is now complete and will be de-watered and dried before being joined to the onshore landfall sections in Russia and Germany in August. This second line is on schedule to become operational as part of the twin pipeline system in the last quarter of this year.

EU approves of the Compact for Growth and Jobs

New platform for securities settlement to be established in Estonia
The Estonian Central Estonian Central Register of Securities (ECSD) and Estonian central bank Eesti Pank signed an accession contract to the securities settlement platform TARGET2-Securities, which will make cross-border securities transactions faster, cheaper and more secure in 2015, the Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) said in a statement.
