In 2011 the volume of freights carried by all types of transport increased in Latvia

In 2011 the average monthly gross wages in Latvia grew by 4.4% to LVL 464
02.03.2012The average monthly gross wages and salaries in the country in 2011 comprised LVL 464, and it is LVL 19 or 4.4% more than in 2010, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB). In public sector the increase comprised 4.7% (from LVL 470 to LVL 493), of which in general government sector – 4.9% (from LVL 433 to LVL 454) and in private sector – 4.6% (from LVL 427 to LVL 447).
Construction costs in Latvia grew by 4.5% in January y-o-y
02.03.2012Compared to the December 2011, construction costs in Latvia in January 2012 rose on average by 0.7%, according to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau. In comparison with January of the previous year, the construction costs rose by 4.5%.

02.03.2012In January 2012, producer prices in Latvia increased by 2.3% compared to December 2011, which was the second largest increase across the European Union, according to the latest data from the EU's statistical office Eurostat.
Nord Stream wins inaugural ‘Pipeline Project of the Year 2012’ award
Nord Stream AG won the inaugural "Pipeline Project of the Year" award at the 2012 European Gas Conference. Grybauskaite: fiscal compact – obligation for the countries to live within their means
President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently attending the European Council meeting, and other 24 heads of state or government of the euro area member states signed the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union which imposed an obligation on European countries to observe strict fiscal discipline and pursue a responsible economic policy.
